As I boarded Datum Charters’ yacht on the first day, little did I know what was in store for me. While on the boat I enjoyed cruising alongside a group of dolphins, sunbathing on the bow, and rocking out to tunes. Off the yacht, I delighted in wandering foreign marinas and unique experiences.
Leaving the Gibraltar marina on the first day, imagine my surprise as I looked over and saw… the coast of Africa! It was at this point that I knew I was in for quite a treat. Our firstnight in Gibraltar we also enjoyed a lively evening in a cruise ship casino.
Despite the novelty of staying in the English territory of Spain, I was excited to continue on with the trip. Our next stay in the picturesque La Duquesa marina included delicious gelato and my first time swimming in the Mediterranean.
Puerto Banus was unparalleled in extravagance. Here I enjoyed designer shopping in stores like Louis Vuitton as well as incredible food and ambience in restaurants on the edge of the marina. At dinner one night we were personally entertained by a magician! Puerto Banus also has a vibrant nightlife. Fortunately, the marina was quiet!
As for the crew, Captain Barry easily navigated the Mediterranean Sea, including large swells (where my first-time-yachter paranoia kicked in but was relieved by the Captain’s calmness and efficiency). First Mate Anne was an efficient deck hand who also made sure the party was always rocking.
In my opinion, Datum Charters is truly a luxury experience with an exceptionally fun and knowledgeable crew!
